Animal Shelt Adapt-a-Cat reduced fees event

Thinking of getting a cat for your Appleby home? The Burlington Animal Shelter is holding an Adopt-a-Cat event from Oct. 1 to Nov. 1 with reduced adoption fees for select adult cats throughout October.

“We are looking for responsible pet owners who want to change the life of an animal living in a shelter by providing it with a loving home,” said David Lake, the city’s animal control supervisor. “These are wonderful, lovable animals, and we hope the Adopt-a-Cat event will encourage potential adopters to come visit the shelter to find their new family pet.”

The adoption fees for select adult cats will be reduced to $34.60, including taxes. The regular rate is $91.92 with taxes.

All cat adoptions include:

Up-to-date, age-appropriate vaccines anti-flea and de-worming treatment

microchip

pet insurance for six weeks

complimentary vet exam cardboard carrier for transportation to home

welcome home gift

$25 gift card from Ren’s Pet Depot.

“Most of the adult cats at the shelter have already been spayed or neutered,” said Lake. “We encourage responsible pet owners to ensure their cats and dogs are spayed or neutered. These efforts help to decrease the population of homeless pets in our community.”

The Burlington Animal Shelter is located on 2424 Industrial St. and is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
