On April 25 Appleby cleans up


Burlington’s best kept secret is the Appleby Line area since it’s so beautiful and clean. To keep it that way, Burlington Green and the City of Burlington have arranged a community clean-up event on Sat. April 25 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Last year, 12,404 people participated in the event picking up 2,600 kg of waste. A lot of it was either recycled or composted.

If you would like to meet your neighbors and help keep our area beautiful why not sign up? After the event at City Hall there’s a free BBQ with refreshments, and a chance to win some awesome prizes courtesy of Tim Hortons, Turtle Jacks and RONA.

All you need to bring is work gloves and bottled water. Some of the many organized events near Appleby Line include:

Ginnan -Spruce Ave. between Camelot and Shoreacres, Shoreacres Rd between Spruce and Lakeshore, around Paletta park area

Pauline Johnson P.S.-School yard and gardens along the bike path from Longmoor Dr. west to Nelson Arena (including the creek area)

Travelpath - Along the South Service Rd. from Appleby Line to Walkers Line - areas around 4190 South Service Rd (Travelpath office).

Garbage Guppies - walking path between Appleby Line and Longmoore Rd.

Burlington Alliance Church and Pineland Baptist Church -Sherwood Park Bike Path starting at Appleby Line and running East

Blyth Academy Burlington - Century Drive, between Harvester and South Service Rd on the West side of the street.

Pineland public school - School grounds and Sheldon creek

Frontenac public school - Frontenac public school grounds

Pinedale to Timberlane

Robert Bateman HS - Bateman and Frontenac schools, as well as the flood plains to the east.
