Pineland Public School turns 50

Pineland Public School located at 5121 Meadowhill Road is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

It will hold a fun-filled festival on Saturday, May 31st that will start with a pancake breakfast 9 a.m. - 10.30 a.m. followed by games and raffles. Because this is a special half-century anniversary, the festival will be open to current and former students and family as well as people in the community.

More than 100 people have signed-up so far, including former Mayor Cam Jackson, who was among the first students to attend the school. In honor of the anniversary, Pineland's school council has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $50,000.

All money raised will purchase new smart boards for classrooms and upgrading of computers, as well as, educational resources for literacy and math. Funds will be raised through ticket sales to the pancake breakfast as well as donations for a brick program that allows donors to buy plaques that will be on permanent display in the school's auditorium.
