The renovated Sunrise Diner & Grill
Tired of the same old hum drum breakfast?
Try some of the awesome Eggs Benedict and other healthy fresh well portioned inexpensive dishes at the newly opened Sunrise Diner and Grill at the corner of Appleby and Fairview. Completely renovated and well maintained -- with exceptionally clean bathrooms – it’s all-day breakfast starts at $3.99 and kids eat free.
Since opening in June, the new owners have been focusing their efforts on seniors and serving only top-quality and tasty healthy food at affordable prices.
“Seniors love our hot roast beef, hot turkey, Shepherd’s Pie, cabbage rolls, breaded liver and other specials all priced less than $10,” said Main Chef Thas Shan.
When entering the restaurant, you’re welcomed by Manger Raj Yoga, who’s always happy seeing new and familiar faces.
The building has undergone a major makeover, which is a far cry from the previous tenant. There are eloquent low-hanging lights and an open concept kitchen giving you an opportunity to watch Chef Thas prepare your meal.
What makes this family diner different is that it is also licensed. A beautifully crafted wooden bar is well stocked with reasonably priced sprits, beer and 12 different wines available for your enjoyment during lunches and dinner.
During the week, fresh homemade burgers are extremely popular. The burgers are made with 100 per cent lean beef and herbs without any filler. They also offer an outstanding vinegar coleslaw that is light and healthy. “The 65 year-old-recipe came from the grandmother of one of our servers. Customers love it,” said Thas.
Everyday, the diner offers two different types of homemade soups prepared fresh from scratch, not out of a can. The menu includes cabbage roll, Lasagne, chicken, chicken mushroom and meatloaf soup.
“For dessert, you can top it all off with a homemade seasonal cake. When peaches are in season, we make peach cake. Now apples are in season, so we make apple cake. We have a carrot and cheese cake that’s really good, as well as pumpkin cake, coffee cake, and bread and rice pudding,” said Raj.
Orders typically take 10-15 minutes.
