Business as usual Burlington diverts a strike
Burlington Transit conventional and Handi-van service will continue as usual after Burlington Transit workers, represented by CUPE Local 2723, voted to accept a four-year collective agreement negotiated between the union and the city.
The agreement will run from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2018. Burlington City Council will ratify the agreement at a council meeting on July 15.
“I am pleased to share that Burlington’s transit service, including Handi-Van, will continue as usual,” said Mayor Rick Goldring. “I want to thank city staff for negotiating an agreement that is respectful of the needs of our transit workers while balancing the impact on taxpayers.”

The City of Burlington also to an agreement with members of CUPE Local 44 diverting a strike with outside and arena/outdoor pool operators. City Council ratified a three-year collective agreement, which runs from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2017. Services include outdoor pools, summer ice use, all sports fields and all outdoor maintenance services.
