Enjoy the Fall colors and learn about the importance of our trees during The Halton Forest Festival at Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area this weekend.
One of the most exciting events is the Lumberjack Show, led by the Lumberjack Company, at 10:30 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. The show includes speed chopping, fire building, chain saw carving and wood splitting in fun, family entertainment format.
There will be Children’s Tree Climb on Saturday, October 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., hosted by Maple Hill Tree Services and on Sunday, October 5, the Iroquoia Bruce Trail Club will lead guided hikes at 11:30 a.m., 1 and 2:30 p.m.
You can also build your own bird house, try your hand at archery, or take an informative hike through the amazing forest at Rattlesnake Point and learn a little about what makes it so important and special. Rattlesnake Point is just a short drive north at 7200 Appleby Line just north of Derry Road. For more information visit www.haltonforestfestival.ca/publicday.
