Free urgent dental care for youth
If your kid's teeth hurt, there's a new government dental program that could pay for the dentist.
As of April 1, more than 460,000 kids from low-income families can get dental services including regular cleanings, diagnostics and treatment through the newly expanded Healthy Smiles Ontario program.
Children 17 and under may be eligible if:
They are residents of Ontario.
They are members of a household with an Adjusted Family Net Income of $21,513 or less per year (increasing approximately $1,500 for each additional child).
They do not have access to any form of dental coverage, including other government-funded programs, such as Ontario Works.
The program is funded through the Province’s Children in Need of Treatment (CINOT) program and administered here in Halton by the Region’s Health Department.
